What I provide - I will work with you on any music you would like to work on, including band music, all-state music, solo and ensemble music, district music, college auditions, duets, ensembles, etc. I will work with your learning style, and I will instruct in a positive and encouraging way.

Location - I teach at my home at 670 Alaska Road, Merritt Island, 32953. I also teach virtually on Zoom.

Required Lesson Materials – Please bring the flutes you are working with, all music you are working on, a pencil, and a pad of manuscript (staff) paper to all lessons. A metronome and tuner are a plus! Although I have those on hand, it's great to have these for your home practice.

Practice - Daily practice time is encouraged. It is much better to practice a short amount of time every day, than to practice for two hours the night before a lesson. Consistency and repetition are key to a student's success. If you are a band student, it is also important to practice the music I give you in addition to your band music. I will be giving you music that is specifically different than your band music so you can progress into a more well-rounded musician.

Attendance – If you know that you cannot attend a lesson for any reason, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance so I have time to reschedule my other students. Please make every effort to schedule appointments around your lesson time. I will not credit or make up lessons which are forgotten or for which I have not received 24 hour advance notice. Make-up lessons are  difficult to schedule, so if you know in advance that you will be missing a lesson, please notify me immediately. If the student is sick, please call or email me first thing in the morning. Do not wait until the afternoon. That will give me some time to schedule another student’s make-up lesson in that time slot. Please note: Only one student canceled lesson (with proper notice) is permitted per semester and will be made up or credited.  Semesters are September through December, and January through June. Any further student  cancellations will not be made up, nor will tuition be credited or reimbursed.

I will gladly extend the same courtesies to you. I will notify you at least 24 hours in advance by email and/or phone in the event that I need to cancel a lesson. I will make up lessons as my time allows. I will also credit you the following month for any lessons that I have missed or for missed lessons which I have received adequate advance notice, and have been unable to make up.

Tuition policy – Tuition must be received for the coming month on the first lesson of the month. Even if you are being credited a lesson from the prior month, tuition is still due on the first lesson of the month. At my home studio, a 30 minute lesson is usually $100.00 per month, a 45 minute lesson is $150.00 per month, and an hour lesson is $200.00 per month. Most of the time there will be four lessons in a month. Always be sure to check if there is a fifth week in the month, because tuition will be higher. Sometimes there are only three lessons in the month because of a holiday, so the tuition will be less.

Discontinuation of lessons – If the need arises for you to discontinue your lessons for any length of time, and for any reason (including for the summer), I must be notified at least four weeks in advance. If I don’t receive advance notice, you will still be financially responsible for the next four weeks of lessons, whether they are attended or not.

Summer lessons  – Summer lessons are highly recommended so the students are prepared for the following school year. Again, consistency and repetition are  key to a student's success! I will also be happy to continue your lessons during school breaks while I am in town.

Important considerations - Before you commit to flute lessons, it is important to consider that this is a commitment of time and money. This is my business, and my family's livelihood depends on my business.  I am keeping the weekly lesson time available for you. It is very important to be sure that the weekly lesson is scheduled for a time that you can make regularly, that payments are made on time, and that all lessons are attended. Once again, consistency and repetition are key to a student's success. If you missed a week or more of a sport, you would fall behind. The same is true for flute lessons.

I welcome parents to visit lessons any time. I am looking forward to working together!
